陳媛媛，上海財(cái)經(jīng)大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院副院長(zhǎng)，講席教授，國(guó)家級(jí)人才計(jì)劃入選者，主要研究領(lǐng)域技術(shù)進(jìn)步、人口流動(dòng)，流動(dòng)人口子女的教育問(wèn)題等，研究成果發(fā)表在《經(jīng)濟(jì)研究》《管理世界》《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)（季刊）》、PNAS、Jpop、JCE、JEBO等，發(fā)表著作《城市的未來(lái)——流動(dòng)兒童教育的上海模式》《隨遷子女升學(xué)政策改革與影響評(píng)估》，主持國(guó)家社科基金重大項(xiàng)目，國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金面上和青年項(xiàng)目及多項(xiàng)省部級(jí)項(xiàng)目，研究成果獲上海市哲學(xué)社會(huì)科學(xué)優(yōu)秀成果獎(jiǎng)一等獎(jiǎng)、二等獎(jiǎng)。
內(nèi)容提要：
This lecture investigates the impact of inter-provincial population flows on regional innovation capacity in China. To establish causality, we leverage exogenous variation stemming from provincial differences in population flow patterns and temporal shifts induced by the official expansion of the road network. Our findings demonstrate that prefectures with higher population flow influx exhibit persistently stronger innovation outcomes today, manifested in significantly higher patent outputs, a greater concentration of high-tech firms, and a higher density of cultivated academicians. Mechanism analysis reveals that population fmlows influx introduced diversity and competition, fostered open attitudes towards new ideas, and heightened emphasis on education, ultimately catalyzing an innovation-enhancing "polyphony effect." Crucially, to address potential confounding from recent internal population flows, we provide evidence that this effect emerged as early as the initial diffusion of modern science in China. This lecture uncovers the deep-seated and persistent influence of population movements on regional innovation capacity, offering a vital lens for understanding the roots of China's regional innovation disparities.
本講座探討中國(guó)省際間人口流動(dòng)對(duì)區(qū)域創(chuàng)新能力的深遠(yuǎn)影響。為識(shí)別其中的因果關(guān)系，我們借助各省人口流動(dòng)格局的差異，以及道路網(wǎng)絡(luò)擴(kuò)張所引發(fā)的外生變化，構(gòu)建了一個(gè)具有識(shí)別力的實(shí)證策略。講座將展示：人口流入較多的地級(jí)市展現(xiàn)出更強(qiáng)的創(chuàng)新活力——具體表現(xiàn)為更高的專(zhuān)利產(chǎn)出、更密集的高新技術(shù)企業(yè)集聚，以及更高密度的本土培養(yǎng)院士。進(jìn)一步的機(jī)制分析表明，人口流動(dòng)不僅帶來(lái)了人口結(jié)構(gòu)的多樣性與市場(chǎng)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)，還促進(jìn)了社會(huì)對(duì)新思想的開(kāi)放態(tài)度，并強(qiáng)化了對(duì)教育的重視，從而催生了一種持續(xù)激發(fā)創(chuàng)新的“復(fù)調(diào)效應(yīng)”(polyphony effect)。尤為關(guān)鍵的是，為排除近期人口流動(dòng)的干擾，本講座還將呈現(xiàn)歷史證據(jù)：這一創(chuàng)新優(yōu)勢(shì)在現(xiàn)代科學(xué)于中國(guó)初步傳播時(shí)期就已顯現(xiàn)，說(shuō)明其根源深植于更久遠(yuǎn)的歷史進(jìn)程。通過(guò)這一研究，本講座旨在揭示人口遷移如何長(zhǎng)期塑造地方的創(chuàng)新文化與制度環(huán)境，為理解中國(guó)區(qū)域創(chuàng)新差異的深層根源提供一個(gè)不可或缺的歷史視角。
